New Hams – Welcome!

If you recently received one of these “QSL cards” in the mail, welcome to Amateur Radio!

The Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club (NVARC) was formed in Groton, Massachusetts, in the spring of 1992 and has grown from the original 13 founders to over 60 members. While our membership is centered in the towns of Groton and Pepperell, Massachusetts, our membership includes residents from many communities in north central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

From licensing classes to mentoring, NVARC has activities that introduce new “hams” to Amateur Radio and help them get active.  NVARC general meetings are open to all interested participants. The general meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM local time.  We start gathering at 7:00 PM to socialize before the meeting.

NVARC also has a Monday night 2 meter net that meets on the N1MNX Pepperell repeater.  147.345MHz, positive offset, PL 100.0Hz.  After the 2 meter net finishes, an informal net happens on 28.410 MHz.  NVARC also has an active Facebook page and a member’s only email reflector.

Besides these regular activities, we regularly sponsor activities such as hidden transmitter hunts (also known as fox hunts) and Parks-on-the-Air activations.  Members attend all the local ham radio flea markets, and we participate in the annual ARRL Field Day.
